Under close supervision, the cashier receives cash from customers or employees in payment for goods or services, records amounts received, computes and verifies bills using a cash register or adding machine, makes change, cashes checks, issues receipts or tickets, prepares reports of transactions, reads and records totals shown on the cash register tape, verifies against cash on hand, and may give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums.
The cashier also operates ticket‑dispensing machines and supports the operation by setting up supplies, assisting in cleanup, and closing the register.
- Operates a cash register, receives payments of cash, checks, and charges, makes change, and issues receipts or tickets.
- Ensures accurate ring of sale items and barcode scans.
- Provides high‑quality customer service at all times.
- Maintains proper security of cash.
- Follows cash‑handling policies and procedures.
- Prepares service areas before meals and cleans
