General PurposeThis position provides a visible presence at the store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe environment for associates and customers. The Specialist greets all customers with eye contact, smiles, and a courteous greeting, deterring theft by demonstrating “command” presence in a company‑issued vest. They walk the sales floor to identify and address potential theft indicators and partner with store leadership to strengthen loss‑prevention compliance.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Provides visible “command” presence, including prominent greetings with eye contact at store entrances and exits, wearing the required vest.
- Removes clutter and ensures safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Provides great customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions courteously.
- Treats all customers and associates with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
- Regularly partners with internal and external stakeholders, including district meetings and recognition programs.
- Performs other duties to support loss‑prevention initiatives.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
- Monitors entrances and sales floor for potential theft and identifies suspicious behavior.
- Gathers theft indicators and communicates them to store leadership.
- Adheres to company policy for external theft response.
- Executes company best practices to minimize steps and touches while working.
- Increases store awareness on processes to minimize operational shortage.

- High school education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
- One year retail supervisor or similar training experience preferred.
- One year loss‑prevention/security training preferred.
- Active security guard license preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
- Excellent customer‑service skills.
- Proven conflict‑resolution ability.
- Must comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions.
- Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
- Ability to spend up to 100 % of work time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lb. from one level to another.
- Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch.
- Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
