Assistant Manager – Bandana's Bar‑B‑Q

Food Production
  • Ensure all menu items are correctly made to recipe and presented attractively.
  • Forecast food production and implement the Food Production system.
  • Know all recipes, products, procedures, and timing.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures and conduct coolers stripping.
  • Receive and store products to ensure quality and freshness.
Guest Satisfaction
  • Assist in ensuring guests’ satisfaction and building sales.
  • Run a shift in the absence of the General Manager, Associate General Manager, or Kitchen Manager.
  • Create an environment of hassle‑free convenience for dine‑in and carry‑out guests.
  • Follow catering, take‑out, and complaint‑handling guidelines.
  • Engage guests, ask about their dining experience, and act on their needs.
  • Lead by example with a warm, sincere smile and polite greetings/partings.
Sanitation and Safety
  • Maintain Health Department and company sanitation policies; communicate standards to employees.
  • Obtain and maintain Serv Safe Certification.
  • Keep indoor and outdoor areas clean and equipment operational.
  • Follow Company Safety Program and OSHA standards.
  • React calmly to emergencies and assist guests and employees.
Administration
  • Complete daily shift paperwork accurately.
  • Ensure cash control guidelines are followed.
  • Improve operations using Shopper's Report scores.
  • Participate in inventory of food and non‑food items.
  • Comply with all corporate, government, and insurance reporting procedures.
  • Forecast sales and communicate this information to all relevant levels.
  • Track food cost, labor cost, and operating expenses.
Human Resources
  • Recruit job applicants and meet staffing needs.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and company regulations.
  • Report personnel information to corporate office promptly and maintain hourly employee records.
  • Monitor days off for hourly employees.
  • Manage staff with motivational techniques to foster a caring environment.
Training

Our training program is a 4‑week process conducted in St. Louis. During training you will learn the skills necessary for success, understand performance evaluation, develop career advancement opportunities, and assist in training catering staff and new hires. You will also support disciplinary procedures, complete termination reports, and conduct exit interviews.

Personal Development

Management members must conduct themselves with the highest respect, promote Bandana’s Bar‑B‑Q, and focus on the impact of actions on guests. They should acknowledge employee contributions and act in the best interest of the company while upholding the business’s high ethical standards.

Prior Experience

Two years as a restaurant manager with experience in all areas of restaurant operations, management, and administration.

Necessary Minimum Knowledge

Guest service, food handling and sanitation, and general knowledge of the restaurant industry.

Necessary Minimum Certifications or Licenses

Serv Safe certification and a valid driver’s license.

Necessary Minimum Skills

Basic computer skills, motivational skills, listening skills, effective coaching, leadership, communication, results orientation, and financial understanding of restaurant operations.

Minimum Education or Specialized Training

High school diploma or equivalent providing ability to read, write, and perform basic calculations.
