- Develops and implements quality strategies by setting the vision and direction for the quality system and improvement initiatives across the multi-site operation.
- Implements quality policies and strategies for food safety and product quality to drive zero defects and exceed all local, state, federal, and international regulatory and food safety requirements
- Deploys comprehensive Safe Quality Food, Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Food Defense Program including policy and procedure deployment, audits, gap analysis, and corrective action implementation in a disciplined continuous improvement framework
- Interface with USDA to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and management of quality
- Ensures the shop floor deployment of procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with food regulations (GMP, BRC, HACCP, and Plant Inspections) and product specifications
- Collaborates across the company (e.g., Customer, Sales, Culinary, Operations, and Suppliers) at all levels of the organization to drive a consistent culture of quality
- Proactively identifies potential risks and implements preventive measures to limit exposure to quality defects
- Deploys a comprehensive co-manufacturer quality program to meet the stringent requirements of ready to eat operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in food safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other science related field - Advanced Degree preferred
- 15+ years of experience in the food industry, combined with a demonstrated track record of accomplishments in quality, food safety and sanitation within a manufacturing environment under HACCP, USDA and/or FDA.
- Demonstrate leadership in the areas of food safety, plant regulatory and Quality Assurance.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with HACCP, FSMA, GMP, FDA/USDA and Food Safety
- Possess a thorough understanding of FDA and/or USDA inspected manufacturing facilities
- Experience with GFSI, regulatory, and customer audits. SQF (preferred) and BRC
- Must have strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
