Location: Redford
Quality / Test Engineer (Quality Management – Internal Auditor)
- Location: Mapleton, Illinois (Onsite – Cast Metal Foundry)
- Schedule: First Shift
- Compensation: $29 to $33 per hour (W2)
- Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k)
- Supports a Quality Management team in a cast metal foundry environment
- Focuses on internal audits, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Hands-on role combining shop-floor observation with formal audits and reporting
- Plays a key role in identifying gaps and driving compliance with internal quality management systems and ISO 9001
- Part of a Quality group at a manufacturing facility
- Team-based audit environment supporting manufacturing and inspection operations
- Backfill position supporting ongoing quality system gap analysis work
- High collaboration with Quality, Manufacturing, and Inspection teams
- Work split approximately 50% on the floor and 50% desk/audit reporting
- Processes evolve based on findings; adaptability is important
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal quality audits
- Audit manufacturing and inspection processes against ISO 9001 and internal quality standards
- Identify gaps in processes, execution, and documentation
- Interview operators, inspectors, and other stakeholders
- Observe shop-floor activities to verify process compliance
- Document audit results, trends, and non-conformances
- Prepare clear audit reports and present findings using SharePoint-based systems
- Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Quality Management team throughout the audit lifecycle
- High school diploma required; degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of internal auditing experience
- Experience auditing to ISO 9001 (ISO 17025 or similar quality systems experience is a plus)
- Strong analytical, documentation, and evidence-gathering skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable interacting with shop-floor personnel and leadership
- Able to work independently after direction in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Comfortable in a role that is approximately 50% shop floor and 50% desk work
- Lead auditor experience
- Internal Auditing certification
- CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) certification
- Understanding of SPC or statistical process control
- Experience with risk-based audit planning and determining audit focus areas
- Foundry, machining, or heavy manufacturing experience
- Confident and professional when interviewing and questioning process owners
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation habits
- Comfortable presenting findings and recommendations
- Collaborative, adaptable, and improvement-focused
- High emotional intelligence when delivering corrective feedback
