Position SummaryThe NDT Test Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, documenting, and reporting on products to ensure compliance with international, national, and customer-specific requirements. The role involves operating and maintaining laboratory test equipment, collecting and analyzing test data, and supporting testing activities across multiple service areas while adhering to TÜV SÜD quality, safety, and information security standards.
Job DescriptionThis role supports TÜV SÜD’s testing operations by performing hands-on inspection and testing activities in a laboratory environment. The technician contributes to accurate product assessments, ensures timely completion of testing projects, and maintains compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks- Inspect, photograph, and document products for assessment against international, national, and customer-specific requirements
- Perform and monitor product testing according to applicable standards, procedures, and project scope
- Collect and record test data, including test data sheets and graphs
- Prepare accurate test reports, incident reports, and technical summaries
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain test equipment, including customized rigs and software
- Validate that equipment calibrations are current and within acceptable ranges during use
- Provide supervisors and program managers with daily project status updates
- Complete assigned work within agreed timelines and budgets
- Support shipping and receiving of samples, including logging, tagging, and consumables control
- Perform equipment verification, calibration activities, and proficiency testing as assigned
- Follow all TÜV SÜD quality, safety, and information security policies
- Report equipment or sample damage immediately
- Complete daily timesheets
- Ability to understand and apply basic electrical and/or mechanical concepts in a laboratory environment
- Proven attention to detail with experience performing tests to written procedures and documenting results
- Proficiency in operating laboratory test equipment
- Proficient in MS Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to remain focused and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work overtime as required
- Technical degree or equivalent training and/or experience preferred
- Hands-on involvement in mission-critical testing activities
- Exposure to multiple testing service areas, including:
- Vibration testing
- Battery testing (cell, module, pack)
- Electrical testing
- Physical testing (loading and cycling)
- Structured onboarding and on-the-job training
