The purpose of this position is to generate and enforce adequate controls in the form of procedures and programs designed to meet the company’s quality policy, quality system and customer requirements. This position also ensures that all purchased, in‑process, and complete product is manufactured within specifications regarding configuration, dimension, aesthetics, contamination, surface finish, plating and material properties. The position monitors the work of vendors for the completeness and accuracy of all finished parts.
EssentialDuties
- Generate standard operating procedures.
- Perform complex dimensional and visual inspections for first article, in‑process, and final inspections per blueprints or other written specifications.
- Perform other work‑related duties at the request of the Quality Director.
- Perform internal and external audits to meet our customer and quality system for compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Maintain Approved Supplier List. Maintain Serial Numbers Log assigned to customer part numbers. Submit Key Characteristic Report to customer.
- Submit and Track Quality Alerts.
- Generate and Control Nonconforming part, Corrective and Preventive Actions in accordance with Quality Procedures (MRB/CAB).
- Review and Approved Purchase Orders for Raw Material, Hardware, Processing, Outside Machining, Deburring and Calibration in accordance with Quality Procedures.
- Review and Approve work orders prior to release to shop floor.
- Review planning operations in accordance with Customer requirements and Quality Procedures.
- Follow‑up on changes to quality procedures, work instruction and master planning operations.
- Perform and / or assist when customer surveillance audit is scheduled.
- Report all suspect quality product problems to the Quality Director and follow through with directed resolution.
- Support technical inspection of new parts or other related inspections for Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.
- Prepare quarterly status reports and submit to Quality Assurance Manager.
- Quality Assurance Manager back‑up: to assist in responsibility when needed.
- Responsible for quality oversight of the program from start to finish — including contract review, production, and shipment — ensuring all customer and regulatory requirements are met.
- Ability to read complex mechanical blueprints.
- Experience with ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Hands‑on experience with micrometers, calipers, dial and digital indicators, ring gages, pin gages, and thread gages.
- Understanding of thread specifications and classifications.
- Thorough understanding of mating parts to determine disposition of product(s) which do not meet specifications.
- Ability to follow and delegate written and verbal instructions in English.
- Experience working with a statistical process control program.
- Perform detailed failure analysis investigations on product complaints.
- Perform detailed follow‑up on corrective action orders.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
High School Diploma or GED; some college or technical training preferred. Minimum of: 3 year’s experience in a Quality Engineering capacity and 5 year’s Mechanical Inspection experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
