Location: California

Pay: $24-28/HR (with pay increase opportunity after successful 90-day evaluation)
Hours:
Day Shift - 6am - 5:30pm / Night Shift - 4:30pm - 4:00am

Project Term: 10 Weeks (possibility to join another project when this project completes)

Primary Purpose

The QC Technician is responsible for independently managing assigned quality control activities for the North Haiwee Reservoir DMM Project. This position provides technical support to Project Engineers, Field Engineers, and other project staff as required. The primary duties include conducting QC operations for Deep Mixing Method (DMM) activities, material tracking, cement grout quality control, and final data preparation. This is a field-based role involving controlled-complexity tasks with work time divided between the field and field office.

Full-time work, including night or day shifts, is required. Remote work is not permitted. Occasional intercity travel may be necessary.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Basic knowledge of computer operations and Microsoft Office Suite.

Training certificates in QC, Construction, or related fields are a plus.

Special Knowledge/Technical

Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, MS Project). Flexibility and adaptability to project needs. Familiarity with office routines, documentation protocols, and administrative procedures. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Technical knowledge in process improvement, safety management, and documentation practices.

Experience: Preferred 1–2 years of related field experience in construction, quality control, or similar industry.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Adhere to and actively promote site-specific safety protocols and procedures.
  • Provide safety support while working in and around batch plants and operational zones.
  • Conduct QC inspections of materials and production processes during DMM operations.
  • Accurately record and report QC inspection data to Project Engineers in a timely manner.
  • Complete required paperwork and documentation following daily production activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels of QC materials and tools, requesting replenishment as necessary.
  • Perform routine inspections and calibrations of QC equipment and measuring devices.
  • Support Batch Plant Operators with daily production and quality-related activities.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure drilling rigs comply with project quality standards.
  • Provide QC support during coring operations, including sample verification and documentation.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of test results, material usage logs, and QC documentation.
  • Immediately report any non-conformances or deviations to Engineering and QA/QC teams.
  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and storage of QC tools and testing instruments.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and quality assurance discussions.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior QC staff on procedures and safety awareness.

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, personal computers, survey instruments, lab equipment.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent hand motions (keyboard, mouse); occasional reaching; regular site walks.
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Environment: Exposure to construction environments, including extreme temperatures, heavy machinery, and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Requires frequent project site inspections and may involve irregular working hours.
  • Vision: Close vision and color vision required (please disclose if color blind).
  • Mental Demands: Ability to handle frequent interruptions, multitask, and maintain emotional control under stress.
