With so much going on behind the scenes, we are seeking a groundskeeper to assist with the maintenance of the golf course. With good pay, extensive benefits and a family atmosphere, this is an excellent position for someone who enjoys and practical work and is comfortable working outside.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay $ 16.00 per hour based on experience

Reports to:

Golf Course Superintendent, Oaks Golf Course

As a Golf Groundskeeper, you will perform a variety of small and large jobs to maintain the golf course, including watering greens, weed eating, irrigation and keeping the maintenance building organized and clean.

Responsibilities include:

  • Report to Supervisor at the beginning of shift to review daily duties and any special requests.
  • Hand watering greens, weed eating, hand raking bunkers, digging irrigation ditches and other manual labor duties that maintain the golf course turf and surrounding areas.
  • Organizing the Maintenance building and keep work area and equipment clean.
  • Ability to drive motorized vehicles, maintenance vehicles to include mowers, sand bucker rakes, golf carts, Cushman’s and other related equipment
  • Pick up debris, empty trash and maintain the golf course to the best of your ability.
  • Maintain a clean organized work space.
  • Be knowledgeable about golf terminology and be aware of etiquette to golfers playing the course while you are doing your assigned duties.
  • Secure all areas and clean equipment used prior to leaving the facility
  • Maintain awareness of where golfers are on the course so you are able to make educated decisions about where and when to do your assigned duties.
  • Maintain contact with the Golf Course Superintendent, Golf Staff, starters and rangers to ensure staffing levels and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications

Personal Skills

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the English Language to effectively communicate with guests and associates.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and implement and make decisions on a regular basis.
  • Must possess excellent hospitality and customer service skills, in particular the ability to talk with golfers while engaged in your daily duties.
  • Projects and assignments are completed thoroughly, professionally, and with care.
  • Adjusts to high-pressure conditions and is open to change.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Conducts him erself, acts and dresses professionally at all times.
  • Understands and communicates the Driftwood Mission.
  • Expresses ideas and conveys information clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Actively listens to others.
  • Conveys company information, decision, or problems to appropriate parties on a timely basis.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Class E license
  • Prior knowledge or experience with golf course maintenance procedures are preferred
  • Golf Knowledge preferred in particular a good understanding of golf terminology and etiquette
  • Good verbal communication skills and highly motivated to complete assigned tasks with little or no supervision needed
  • Be able to work a flexible schedule which means weekends, holidays, early mornings and evenings.

Physical Requirements

  • Minimum lifting of 30 pounds
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, kneeling, pulling, upward reaching, manual dexterity
  • Hearing and speaking
  • Ability to stand on feet for hours at a time
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold.
