Job Description

The Recreation Worker will lead guests in interpreting cultural, historical, and natural resources while supporting guests in an outdoor environment. Responsibilities may vary by location based on client requirements and business needs.

Hourly rate: $17.45 to $17.45.

• Leads guests on organized and educational excursions
• Provides leadership and training for Level I & II guides
• Greets guests and provides an orientation of safety, equipment, etiquette, area regulations, and procedures
• Adheres to safety policies and procedures to ensure guest safety
• Ensures guide compliance with the operations Manual and Contracts
• Is aware of MSDS sheets and can use this information when necessary
• Tests the communications equipment prior to operation
• Provides support and reassurance to guests
• Has extensive knowledge of local ecology, geology, history, and culture to answer guest questions
• Provides interpretation in a variety of settings
• Choreographs tours to educate and engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds
• Adheres to cash handling policies and procedures
• Maintains a safe work environment through daily maintenance and housekeeping
• Works in conditions that involve exposure to unusual elements and extreme temperatures
• Maintains excellent customer service and a positive demeanor towards guests, customers, and co‑workers

• Training in First Aid protocols such as Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Wilderness EMT, or EMT/Paramedic preferred
• Multilingual skills a plus
• Must have extensive experience guiding in the same or related environment
• Can sit, stand, and walk for varied amounts of time
• Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must be available to work flexible hours

This role may require lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing. Uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
