Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Barn Hollow Veterinary Services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical attention to our patients. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting with daily operations, ensuring the comfort and well-being of animals, and providing excellent customer service to pet owners.

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and other procedures.
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are ready for use.
• Restrain animals for examinations and procedures safely and humanely.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
• Assist in administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and disposal of waste.
• Manage laboratory samples, including collection, preparation, and submission for testing.
• Handle client communications, including scheduling appointments, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including nutrition, dental care, and preventative health measures.
• Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks such as record keeping and maintaining patient files.

• Must have experience working with large animal (Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats, etc).
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in veterinary assisting is a plus.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility preferred.
• Strong knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-service orientation.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Compassionate and empathetic approach to animal care.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.

• Ability to lift and carry animals up to 100 lbs.
• Stamina to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working with various types of animals in a clinical setting.
