Overview
Typical starting pay will be set at the beginning of the advertised range, depending on qualifications.
Primary PurposeAssists in the general beautification, cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of city parks, greenway areas, city-owned landscaped areas, and the grounds surrounding municipal facilities.
SupervisionUnder the direct supervision of the Parks Maintenance Superintendents.
Must have a basic knowledge of zero turn mowers and grounds maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of landscaping, grass, and tree care. Organizational/planning skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic Computer skills. Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and maintain maintenance equipment. Must be able to memorize and retain information. Must have good time management skills. Must have good cognitive and analytical skills. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Must be able to quickly judge and assess situations.
Must be able to make decisions under pressure in areas of responsibility. Must possess manual ability to operate a computer.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Missouri State Driver's License.
- May be required to work a variety of shifts including weekends, or holidays.
- Must be a dependable person due to the small size of the work force.
- May be subject to random substance abuse testing.
Performs bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead;
Must be able to reach, grip and hold;
Must be able to lift 50 pounds above their head;
Must be able to push, pull and carry 60 pounds.
Both indoor and outdoor working environments with exposure to dust and pollen, toxic fumes, chemicals or smoke, contagious diseases, electrical and mechanical hazards associated with equipment, extreme noise;
Subject to variety of extreme weather condition;
Susceptible to safety hazards associated with working in and around high traffic volume;
Works in confined places and awkward positions.
