Position: CHEMICAL CONTROL SPRAYER II (5028)
Location: Louisiana

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION.

This employment list will also be used for future EAST AND WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur. The purpose of this position is to spray all herbicides and fertilizers for the necessary maintenance and upkeep of all grounds and turf areas belonging to the Recreation Department to include fence lines. Employee will be responsible for all spray equipment used for the distribution of herbicides and fertilizers.

The position will conduct daily inspections and clean all equipment used. Shall store herbicides and fertilizers properly and keep them under lock and key at all times. Employee must have or be able to acquire a Right-Away Commercial Spray License. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.

Position also requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of one (1) year of paid experience performing manual labor involving the operation of vehicles, trailers, and motorized equipment,
preferably
, to include chemical sprayer trucks and accessory equipment used in the application of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides.

NOTE:

Attainment of a Pesticide Applicator Certification, given by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry, may be required by the Appointing Authority prior to end of the probationary period.

Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application. (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.

The information is subject to verification and the Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience claimed for credit.
