Provides professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice, supporting physicians and assisting in patient treatment. Completes related clinical paperwork. Adheres to Mercy's philosophy of caring for the sick and suffering, respect for human life, dignity of each person, and Christian values. Communicates with patients, families, visitors, and staff in a caring, friendly, professional manner. Performs related duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice under physician direction.
- Assist physicians with patient treatment and complete associated clinical paperwork.
- Communicate with patients, families, visitors, and staff in a caring, friendly, and professional manner.
- Carry out duties as assigned and uphold Mercy's philosophy of caring, respect for human life, and Christian values.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, principles to develop a self-care program, instruments and common safety practices.
- Current valid state license.
CPR certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:- Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies.
- Clear communication and effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
- Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or the ability to learn these skills, to access information and enter clinical data.
Ability to operate equipment normally related to the specialty of the clinic.
