RN Gynecologic Oncology
Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team at their main clinical location. This clinical RN plays a vital role in supporting patient care within the outpatient oncology setting.
OverviewResponsibilities include assessing patient needs in person, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, administering treatments, and providing education and support to patients and their families. The RN will document all aspects of care in the electronic medical record and ensure timely coordination of services. The ideal candidate will be skilled in identifying patients with complex or high‑risk conditions and facilitating appropriate interventions within the clinic.
The general pay scale for this position is $32,420–$53,060.
Employment type
is 1.0 FTE (40 hr/week). Benefits include Medical/Dental/Vision, Life Insurance, and 401(k).

- Address patient calls, portal messages, and emails in a timely manner.
- Ask appropriate open‑ended questions and utilize computerized algorithms/pathways to assess patient symptoms and manage side‑effects, documenting interventions.
- Assess urgency of patient symptoms/side‑effects and address them appropriately.
- Aggressively manage symptoms to prevent unnecessary emergency department and hospital utilization.
- When emergency care is needed, collaborate with physicians via electronic communication, face‑to‑face, or telephone to discuss patient care needs that cannot be independently addressed using standard orders or practice protocols.
- Collaborate with providers if the patient can be seen in an outpatient clinic setting for their symptoms.
- Document all conversations with patients to maintain a comprehensive medical record and provide clear instructions and education via telephone and other duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education (BSN preferred).
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing.
- 3–5 years nursing experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Must maintain continuing education requirements.
The position requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and the ability to read and record appropriate measurements. Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time, occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to direct contact with patients with potential exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
