Overview
Position Information The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides direct patient care for a diverse patient population working with faculty physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, nursing staff, patient services staff, and ancillary personnel. Administers medication and vaccinations. Reviews patient charts for patient compliance with orders and follows up. Assists in patient prescription refills. Participates in billing activities. The full salary range for the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is $28.96 - $36.72 per hour.
We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.
Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Experience working with physicians, nurses, and patients in a medical back-office setting and have the ability to manage simultaneous tasks.

Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge of Immunization schedules and immunization placement techniques. Knowledge of fundamentals of asepsis and sterile techniques, basic bacteriology an infection and disease control. Have the ability to prepare patients for examinations and minor surgeries. Demonstrated ability to administer medication and CPR certification.
- Ability to be an effective and cooperative member of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity, to respect patient rights. Must comply with HIPAA regulations. Must show respect for patients with diverse cultural backgrounds and lifestyles.
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to work quickly and accurately.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding.
- Knowledge of medical records procedures and have the ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician or nurse practitioner.
- Manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity to perform the required clinical duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of EPIC EMR.
