Overview

About The Position in Moreno Valley. Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting a Pediatrician and overseeing a Pediatric Specialty, vaccine management of VFC, State and Private stock, VFC (Vaccines for Children) knowledge, managing referrals - internally and externally; performing nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Department of Mental Health or Public Health Ambulatory Family Health Center;

and perform other related duties as required.

The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Community Health Centers is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse I/II to join their Pediatrics team in Moreno Valley. Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting a Pediatrician and overseeing a Pediatric Specialty, vaccine management of VFC, State and Private stock, VFC (Vaccines for Children) knowledge, managing referrals - internally and externally;

performing nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Department of Mental Health or Public Health Ambulatory Family Health Center;

and perform other related duties as required.

The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is the first working level in the LVN series. The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is distinguished from the Licensed Vocational Nurse II in that the latter has one year or more of nursing experience. The Licensed Vocational Nurse I is distinguished from the class of Nursing Assistant, Health Services Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant, in that a state license is required of incumbents and they perform a more highly skilled form of nursing care.

Professional

Experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingual
  • At least 6 months experience in Peds, Family Care, and/or Urgent Care
  • Knowledge of Epic
  • Knowledge of referrals and authorizations
Licenses and Certifications (Required)
  • California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Work Schedule

5/40 Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 5:30pm

Salary Range

Licensed Vocational Nurse I: $27.4177 - $40.1876

Licensed Vocational Nurse II: $29.0135 - $42.5261

Examples Of Essential Duties
  • Provide nursing care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; prepare patients for physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and care for patients during treatment; administer medications using subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal, subdermal, and/or oral methods.
  • Take temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure of patients as necessary; apply and change dressings and cares for wounds; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis; assist physicians, registered nurses, and mid-level providers in performing examinations, tests, respiratory care and other treatments including minor surgical procedures, PAP smears and colposcopies.
