Summary

Thank you for your interest in the Licensed Practical Nurse - Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) for Community-Based Outpatient Clinic - Camdenton - Missouri within the Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital. The primary purpose is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service, and an environment committed to serving veterans.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements
  • United States Citizenship:
    Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
  • Education:

    Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by NLNAC at program completion
  • Licensure:
    Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State/Territory/Commonwealth (e.g., Puerto Rico) or District of Columbia
  • Licensure history:
    An LPN/LVN who has ever had a license revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or placed in probationary status may be appointed only per VA Policy
  • English Language Proficiency:
    Proficient in both spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). May qualify based on Grandfathering Provision for current VHA employees in this occupation if criteria are met
  • Grade Determinations:
    In addition to basic requirements, the following must be met to qualify at the indicated grade levels:
  • GS-3:
    None beyond basic requirements
  • GS-4:
    Six months of qualifying experience as an LPN/LVN, or graduation from an approved school plus one year of relevant nursing care experience, or graduation from an approved 24-month program
  • GS-5:
    Completion of at least 1 year of qualifying experience at GS-4 level, or demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide full range of practical nursing care; orient/train less experienced staff; educate patients/families; document medications and treatments; respond to patient needs and emergencies
  • GS-6:
    Completion of at least one year of additional qualifying experience at GS-5 level; capable of autonomously performing duties; provide nursing care to diverse patient populations; prepare/ administer medications; respond to emergencies; supervise/educate others; engage in program support duties
  • Preferred Experience:

  • The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6; actual grade may be GS-3 to GS-6.
Duties
  • The LPN-Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) delivers designated nursing activities for patients and families in acute or chronic medical, diagnostic, surgical, or psychiatric contexts
  • Performs at a competent level under supervision of the assigned area manager; seeks guidance from the RN or MD/DO when needed
  • Initiates, performs, and completes assigned duties in care for variable patient populations; documents patient information accurately
  • Observes, identifies, and responds to patient needs; organizes care considering emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-related factors
  • Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatments per policies; documents patient responses and changes
  • Recognizes urgent or emergent care situations, seeks assistance, and initiates appropriate emergency interventions as directed
  • Maintains safety by reporting equipment issues and supply deficiencies
  • Serves as a generalist to support Telehealth programs, including tele-presenter duties, imaging, real-time telehealth events, equipment provision, scheduling, and program support
  • Work Schedule:

    Monday – Friday, 07:30–16:00; other benefits and allowances listed by VA
