Geisinger is proud to offer a full‑time Experienced Pediatric Critical Response RN position offering a $21,500 hiring incentive for eligible candidates, a $41.00 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Job Duties

Job Description:

  • Complete assessments as established by unit standards and address physical, social, cultural, spiritual, and psychological needs of patient and family.
  • Formulate and document a plan of care as established in unit standards.
  • Include health teaching, family needs, and discharge planning.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to procedure.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response or lack of progress.
  • Coordinate and provide patient care, discharge planning, and patient and family education.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to assure assessment, treatment, and care is appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to resolve and facilitate actions that meet patient needs.
  • Delegate on the basis of skill, expertise, and time availability of the team member, acuity, and needs of the patient.
  • Problem‑solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
  • Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the organization.
  • Actively participate in education and professional development activities.
  • Assume responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse events.
  • Participate in problem solving when appropriate.
  • Actively participate in patient safety improvement and management program.
  • Respond to all Pediatric Rapid Responses and Adult Codes throughout Geisinger Medical Center.
  • Include but are not limited to Sepsis Alerts, Pulmonary Embolism Response Team calls, and Stroke Alerts.
  • Assist in initial resuscitation and implementation of bundle guidelines in accordance with best practice.
  • Assist in the determination and transportation of the patient to the appropriate level of care.
  • Complete documentation of events during Rapid Response calls in the medical record.
  • Maintain and update Rapid Response Database.
