About The Position
The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center located in Moreno Valley, is currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC for the MSC Recovery (PACU) Department. The RN is responsible for independent peri-anesthetic management of a complex, varied surgical and procedural population. Under supervision, the incumbent will care for pre and post-OP patients; perform professional nursing duties in the care and services to patients and their families at the Riverside University Health System-Medical Center (RUHS-MC), Community Health Clinics (CHC) or other RUHS locations as assigned, assist physicians and carry out their orders, coordinate a continuum of care for a selected group of patients from pre-admission through post-discharge, and other related duties as required.
Responsibilities- Re-assesses patient for safety issues throughout perioperative period
- Utilizes the nursing process to provide quality patient care
- Follows rights of medication administration by verifying orders, retrieving medications for the correct patient, properly labeling medications, and wasting medications as required
- Documents clearly, accurately in a timely and appropriate manner
- Cares for a post-surgical patient
- Assesses patient readiness for discharge
- Performs Phase I and II, and discharge home
- Provides discharge instructions
- A current and valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- One (1) year or more of Medical/Surgical ICU or Emergency Department experience required; current PACU experience preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
- Critical Care differential: $4.00 per hour (applied following completion of required specialty training, attainment of all necessary certifications, and departmental determination that the employee is authorized to work independently)
5/40 - Monday to Friday
Hours:
10:00 am to 6:30 pm
- Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; monitor patients through phase I, phase II and discharge planning
- Administer or dispense prescribed treatment and medications; chart treatment and report significant changes in condition
- Provide discharge instructions prior to discharge
- Prepare and maintain records and reports; instruct patients in carrying out physicians' orders
- May participate in quality assurance reviews; may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse
- Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committee activities; identify staff training needs
- May coordinate and monitor patients through hospitalization; maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility
- May review the post-hospital care plan with patient/family and follow through to discharge
- Education:
Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California. A bachelor’s degree may be required for some positions. - Experience:
Three years of full-time RN experience in an acute care facility or community health agency. A bachelor’s degree in nursing or national certification may substitute for one year; a master’s degree may substitute for two years. - Knowledge:
Nursing principles, medical terminology, patient care routines, medications, and related regulations; discharge planning; payor documentation and regulatory requirements. - Ability:
Perform full nursing duties, plan and organize nursing care, maintain records, work with physicians and staff, and keep abreast of developments in nursing.
- Current California RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required
