Unit Leadership and Responsibilities

Your L&D Unit as a Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery will lead a modern, family-centered birthing environment designed for safety, comfort, and high‑acuity care. This includes spacious labor‑delivery‑recovery suites, dedicated obstetric operating rooms for cesarean births, an obstetric emergency triage area, and seamless access to maternal‑fetal medicine, anesthesia, neonatology, and lactation support. The Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery will guide a unit committed to Baby‑Friendly practices, evidence‑based protocols, enhanced recovery after cesarean pathways, respectful and culturally sensitive care, and supportive options such as VBAC when appropriate—ensuring an exceptional experience for every growing family.

Leadership, Team, and Support:
Reporting to the Director of Women’s and Children’s Services and partnering closely with the Perinatal Medical Director, the Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery will have strong administrative support, dedicated educators, unit‑based councils, and shared governance to drive clinical excellence and staff engagement. The Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery will collaborate with a friendly, diverse team of charge nurses, staff RNs, CNMs, OB/GYNs, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, NICU leaders, and ancillary professionals.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, staffing and budgeting, quality and safety initiatives, regulatory readiness, patient experience, professional development, and mentorship—fostering a thriving, inclusive culture where every nurse feels valued and empowered.
