Registered Nurse – Gynecologic Oncology
Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the main clinical location as an integral part of the outpatient oncology team. The RN will assess patients in person, collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, administer treatments, and provide education and support to patients and their families. All care will be documented in the electronic medical record and coordinated promptly.
OverviewThe RN will play a vital role in supporting patient care within the outpatient oncology setting, identifying patients with complex or high‑risk conditions and facilitating appropriate interventions within the clinic.

Employment TypeFull-time, 40 hours per week.
SalaryGeneral pay scale: $32.42–$53.06 per hour (dependent on experience, education, responsibility, location, etc.).
Responsibilities- Address patient calls, portal messages and emails in a timely manner.
- Ask appropriate open‑ended questions and use computerized algorithms/pathways to assess patient symptoms and side‑effect management, and document interventions. Manage a wide range of symptoms.
- Assess urgency of patient symptoms/side effects and address them appropriately.
- Aggressively manage symptoms to prevent unnecessary emergency department and hospital utilization.
- If emergency care is needed, collaborate with physicians via electronic communication, face‑to‑face, or telephone to discuss patient care needs that cannot be independently and appropriately addressed using standard orders or practice protocols.
- Collaborate with providers if the patient can be seen in an outpatient clinic setting for their symptoms.
- Document all conversations with patients to maintain a comprehensive medical record and provide clear instructions and education to patients via telephone and other duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Registered Nurse with valid state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing.
- 3–5 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must maintain continuing education requirements.
Full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, ability to read and note measurements, sitting/standing for extended periods, occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs, requires corrected vision and hearing. Exposure to direct contact with patients, potential toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
Working ConditionsPotential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
