Additional Information About the Role

We are a 38-bed surgical unit dedicated to providing excellent patient care. RNs work alongside innovative surgeons in a top-ranked GI Surgery department. We care for a diverse patient population requiring colorectal and urology surgeries, with ages ranging from teenagers to over 90. We lead in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) care.

The BJC RN Career Ladder promotes professional growth, leadership, collaboration, education, and service excellence, allowing nurses to advance their careers and increase their pay. Benefits include additional PTO (for experienced RNs), a sign-on bonus up to $20,000, or a combination of a $15,000 sign-on bonus plus $15,000 loan repayment (for experienced RNs).

Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of Washington University Medical Center, is Missouri's largest hospital and nationally ranked. We serve a diverse patient base needing colorectal and urology surgeries, with an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. We provide a supportive environment for learning and growth.

Role Purpose & Responsibilities

Purpose: Provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within nursing standards.

Responsibilities: Promote patient-centered care, educate patients and families, ensure safety and quality compliance, develop and implement care plans, assess physical and psychosocial needs, and communicate effectively across care teams.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing

Experience: No experience required

Licenses &

Certifications:

RN license

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; less than 2 years of experience preferred.
