Resident Coordinator – Meadow at Melrose (Part‑Time)

Join the Safe Place for Youth as a Resident Coordinator at our Meadow at Melrose transitional living site. This part‑time position (~16 hours per week) requires Saturday and Sunday nights from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am. The role is non‑exempt and reports to the Meadow at Melrose Housing Supervisor.

The Resident Coordinator will oversee the property’s general health, cleanliness, safety, crisis responses, and conflict management. This position also collaborates closely with the Resident Coordinator of the Radio House, another Roots to Grow transitional living site in Mar Vista. You will need to work some evening and weekend hours.

• Conduct daily house and property inspections to maintain curb appeal and resident safety.
• Maintain adequate inventory and storage of program supplies, including snacks, activity materials, cleaning supplies, laundry soaps, and office supplies.
• Assist with program intakes and exits, preparing intake packets, files, and the youth’s living space.
• Coordinate and support meal provision (e.g., food pantry donations).
• Report all issues concerning resident health and safety, maintenance, or other concerns to appropriate managers or point persons, and track outcomes.
• Interact with and build relationships with program residents, supporting their success, resolving problems, and enforcing house rules. Provide crisis response and conflict resolution among residents.
• Communicate emerging and outstanding issues to the Housing Programs Manager promptly; collaborate with case managers to resolve issues.
• Coordinate volunteers who provide services on site.
• Create and maintain resource lists and information to help residents access neighborhood amenities.
• Assist in coordinating and implementing on‑site educational, life‑skills, and healing arts programs offered by staff, community partners, or volunteers.
• Help prepare required program reports.
• Drive SPY vehicles to transport residents to services and community activities.
• Work within established legal and ethical guidelines.
• Be able to work nights and weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Related work or lived experience will be strongly considered in place of or in addition to a Bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred: 2+ years of experience providing direct services to high‑risk transition‑age youth.
• Required:
  
  Working knowledge of child and adolescent social, emotional, and cognitive development, trauma‑informed care and harm‑reduction service models.
• A commitment to and passion for SPY’s mission, vision, values, and culture. A self‑starter prepared to drive innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment requiring effective collaboration with various organizations and individuals.
• Valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to transport clients for housing and services.
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
• Subject to criminal and driving background checks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors. Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary‑up to 15‑20 pounds at times.

Mandated Reporting Requirements:
The position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 (Revised July 21, 2017).
