First Baptist Church De Soto is a healthy, growing, multi-generational congregation of approximately 350 attenders located in rural De Soto MO. Our mission is to make disciples by exalting Christ, equipping the church, and engaging the world for the glory of God. We are committed to gospel-centered preaching, authentic community, and equipping every generation to live out their faith.
We are prayerfully seeking a part-time (30 hours/week) Pastor of Discipleship and Administration. The Pastor of Discipleship and Administrative will oversee the church’s discipleship initiatives and administrative operations to advance the mission and vision of First Baptist Church De Soto. This role is responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive strategy to reach people with the gospel, assimilate them into the church, and foster their growth as maturing disciples of Jesus Christ, while also managing church operations, strategic planning, finances, and human resources in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and elders.
The Pastor of Discipleship and Administration will report directly to the Lead Pastor and serve as a key member of our pastoral team.
Job Responsibilities and Duties Discipleship and Assimilation- Plan, implement, and evaluate a long-term, comprehensive strategy for discipleship and spiritual growth of church members and families
- Oversee Greeter/Welcome teams, designing and implementing a strategy to warmly welcome visitors and facilitate their engagement with the church
- Develop and manage a visitor follow-up strategy to connect with newcomers and encourage assimilation into the church community
- Evaluate and recommend Bible-based curriculum, teaching materials, and resources for all church small groups and ministries, ensuring alignment with the church’s Statement of Faith
- Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support for small group leaders to foster effective discipleship and spiritual growth
- Develop and oversee a clear strategy to help attendees take next steps in their faith journey and integrate into the church community
- Oversee leadership of men’s and women’s ministries
- Collaborate with staff to help small groups become outwardly focused, encouraging ministry to others and gospel-sharing in the community
- Collaborate with staff and the Director of Upward to support and shepherd the Upward ministry
- Work with lead pastor and elders to establish and execute the mission and vision of the church
- Support the Lead Pastor and elders in the accomplishment of the church’s mission through ministry effectiveness, evaluation, discernment, decision making, planning and overall direction of church staff
- Oversee the review, creation, and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure effective operation of church in conjunction with staff and appropriate committees
- Supervise staff in coordination with Lead Pastor, elders, and Personnel Committee
- Work with Personnel and Finance committees in matters relating to benefits and compensation for staff
• Work with Personnel Committee in the hiring and dismissal of staff according to church policy - Ensure that staff have resources necessary to accomplish their roles
- Establish and execute a budget for the church in coordination with Lead Pastor, elders, staff, and Finance Committee
- Conduct staff reviews in conjunction with the Personnel Committee and elders and maintain employee files
- Ensure that finances, facilities, property, and communications are strategically mobilized for effective ministry
- Lead meetings with the staff to promote effective communication, cooperation, and mission alignment
- Work with staff to plan the worship services of the church
- Assist other pastoral staff with funerals, weddings, preaching, counseling, and hospital visits as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Meet the qualifications of an elder as set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
- Demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior
- Have a clear call to vocational ministry and a passion for discipleship and church administration.
