COMMUNICATIONS & STORYTELLING SPECIALIST

At True Friends, stories matter. The Communications & Storytelling Specialist plays a key role in capturing and sharing the powerful experiences of participants, families, and staff. Through compelling writing, photography, and media engagement, this position helps elevate awareness, strengthen credibility, and showcase the life-changing impact of our mission.

Schedule:Seasonal, Early June - Mid August 2026

Locations:Annandale, Maple Lake, and Eden Prairie, MN

Pay:$15.57

What You'll Do:
  • Conduct interviews with participants, families, staff, and community partners to gather meaningful stories
  • Write compelling copy for digital and print platforms, including website content, email campaigns, newsletters, and marketing materials
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and brand voice alignment
  • Draft and coordinate press releases and media outreach
  • Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets and community partners
  • Assist with social media content planning and written storytelling
  • Capture photography and visual content to support marketing and storytelling initiatives
  • Support special projects and organizational campaigns as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in storytelling, journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations
  • Confidence conducting interviews and translating experiences into compelling narratives
  • Understanding of brand voice and messaging consistency
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for mission-driven storytelling and amplifying impact
  • Ability to pass an organizational background study

Physical & Work Environment Expectations:
  • Work in both office and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions such as sun, rain, or heat
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, or navigate uneven terrain as needed to capture content or support programs
  • Lift, carry, and transport equipment, props, or supplies as required
  • Move quickly to capture activities or assist with tasks throughout program areas
  • Maintain focus and attention to details while on your feet for extended periods
  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and software tools relevant to the role
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
