Laser Operator

PURPOSE OF JOB

Laser Operators safely perform laser cutting for a variety of manufacturing products and are able to work with great concentration and precision to produce high quality parts and materials.

• Perform typical laser cutting operations.
• Select proper cutting programs and proper fixtures.
• Establish proper stop location and adjust laser beam focal point.
• Make proper set‑ups for cutting operations.
• Perform all dimensional inspections.
• Uphold quality standards by detecting and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to your supervisor.
• Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
• Understanding of how the machine works to maintain the machinery for which they are responsible and ensure it functions.
• Clean the work site area by using brooms, rags, or cleaning compounds and will use proper housekeeping practices.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Degree or certificate from a vocational school (preferred)
• Strong analytical skills
• Attention to detail is paramount.
• Positive, Professional attitude with a strong work ethic and ability to self‑motivate.
• Preventative maintenance mindset.
• Mechanical aptitude and good basic mathematic skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and fractions.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
• Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
• Good attitude and works well in team atmosphere.
• Ability to learn new skills, technology, and equipment as industry changes.

Normally working on the plant floor and occasionally involved in manual labor. Will at times be exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, vibration, welding sparks, grease, oil, and diesel fuel.
