Job Overview

Legacy Industries is seeking 12 skilled Structural Fitters to join our Field Operations team. In this full‑time role, you will be responsible for fitting and assembling steel structures on marine vessels including tugboats, push boats, and small barges. You’ll perform project preparation, steel layout and fitting, and hands‑on fabrication and welding of structural components. Key Responsibilities
  • Fit and assemble steel structures for marine vessels
  • Lay out and fabricate steel components to specification
  • Burn, wash, and bevel steel with hand torches
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications
  • Measure, cut, and install structural plate, pipe, beams, and related components
  • Conduct quality inspections on assembled parts
  • Adhere strictly to safety and quality standards on site
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1+ year experience as a 1st Class Ship Fitter
  • Understanding of shipyard terminology and vessel structure
  • Skilled in burning, beveling, and steel fabrication using hand torches
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Must pass a drug test and physical
  • No formal education or certifications required; skills will be tested onsite
