MainDuties & Responsibilities
A Davenport Set Up Operator ("C") Trainee Labor Grade 9 is required, at a minimum, to be able to operate (2) Davenport multi‑spindle screw machines. They must maintain a first pass yield as determined by the Monogram management team. The Davenport SUO "C" trainee must be proficient with all measuring tools required to complete and perform setups with minimal assistance, first part buy offs and final inspection.
The Operator must also be able to fill out in‑process and final inspection documentation accurately and legibly. This position also requires excellent communication skills, teamwork and ingenuity. The Operator must pose great self‑motivation, good work habits, and work ethic. They must be able to follow all instruction given to them by their leaders and Management.
Under Management's direction and subject to periodic review, the operator performs the following:
- Operates a minimum of 2 Davenport with minimal supervision machines as required by management.
- Ability to read and use calipers, micrometers, comparators, depth gages, pin and thread gages.
- Must be able to with minimal supervision verify workpiece position, loading work pieces, select proper feed rate, cutting speed and depth, tooling, cams, springs, collets and other variable tasks and items to produce parts using various materials. Adapts tooling, cams etc. by adjusting or modifying to ensure proper machining/machine functioning.
- Ability to use all equipment within the department such as surface grinders, bench grinders, etc.
- Records all data specific to the work piece clearly and legibly on correct in-process and final inspection form. Record required amount of data entries in SPC.
- Be trained in and follow all Davenport quality and inspection methods.
- Can identify and report common and/or major defects of parts and raw material.
- Must be able to pass certified operator exam to attain FAI and First piece buyoff stamp.
- Must be able to work well with other team members.
- Must be able to take direction and communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Must be a self‑starter.
- Must be able to follow production schedule within the department.
- Must have good housekeeping and knowledge of machine safety.
The Davenport SUO "C" trainee position is a key and integral part of the manufacturing process. It requires a self‑driven individual with exceptional knowledge of the components, and how they work. Operators will use various tools including measuring tools to perform their day-to-day functions. At times the Operator may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. They will be working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment that is loud.
Depending on the season, the factory could be very hot and or very cold. They are required to use proper personal protective equipment at all times when inside the factory. The Operator must be able to fill in all documentation correctly and accurately. They must be able to read blueprints. Davenport operators will need to be able to distinguish a conforming part from a non‑conforming part.
The Davenport operator must pose a high level of integrity and must understand that they are manufacturing critical components for the Aerospace industry. Therefore all company rules and regulations as determined by Management are always to be followed and observed without exception.
Education
- Must be able to pass Davenport skills assessment test with a score that is to be determined by Management.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of set up and operating experience in the aerospace field or equivalent schooling.
- Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $29.52 - $35.88
. Position is for 2nd shift LG 9.
