The Shipping Supervisor oversees and participates in staging, loading, and unloading processes for all tubular products. In addition to prioritizing, delegating, and ensuring that tasks are completed in a way that meets or exceeds customer expectations, this role is responsible for building and developing an effective team that takes ownership of its tasks and prioritizes internal and external customer satisfaction, productivity, material accuracy, material traceability, and safety.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish priorities and take responsibility for efficiently staging, loading, and unloading material
- Delegate duties and work assignments in a fair manner
- Scrutinize customer requirements and special instructions to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction
- Ensure that all delegated tasks are completed in a way that meets or exceeds customer expectations
- Support the recruiting, selection, and training of new hires as requested/necessary
- Provide regular feedback to direct reports and complete routine performance reviews as requested
- Follow and enforce company safety policies and safe work practices at all times and lead others to do the same
- Ensure that inventory is accurate
- Proficiently operate SAP-supported hand‑held scanners
- Report any quality related problems to the management for resolution
- Attend all scheduled company & safety meetings
- Inspect and operate all related equipment in accordance with company and safety guidelines
- Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with other employees, supervisors, and customers
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Ability to work in a warehouse within OSHA guidelines; conditions may be heated/unheated and periodically noisy
- Fast-paced moderately stressful, constantly changing day to day work environment
- Ability to stand, walk, or be mobile for up to eight hours per shift
- Capable of ascending and descending material handling equipment
- Required to wear proper PPE at all times in warehouse
- Ability to operate company vehicles including forklifts and yard trucks
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to effectively read and use a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer.
- At least two years of demonstrated experience using a forklift or heavy equipment.
