Quarry Plant Operator

SummaryThis position involves a variety of laboring activities, including lubricating, shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, tire work, mechanical assistance, lifting, pushing and pulling various objects, and raking. Work will be performed per the plant foreman’s instruction with minimal direct supervision, except for more complicated jobs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain the aggregate crusher, washer, and surrounding environment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Shovel, sweep, steam clean, paint, perform tire work, provide mechanical assistance, and lift, push, and pull various objects.
- Communicate production issues to the supervisor or lead person.
- Perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Travel and work away from home when required.
- Work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Work overtime when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned per supervisor.

- One (1) year of related experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; and to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Work various shifts (days, nights, swings).
- Grip with at least 90 lbs. of force.
- Climb in, around, and on equipment.
- Heavy lift of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 75 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Awkward positions, including getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
- Flexibility for awkward reaches.
- Balance, including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
- Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
- Hearing: corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers.
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, vibration, wet and humid conditions, occasional high or precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and generally loud noise levels.
