SUMMARY
This position focuses on keeping production operational by supporting the tool maker and production maintenance tech to complete any necessary tasks for operation, continuous improvement, or new lines. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple tasks at once.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(Other duties may be assigned.)
- Manufacture or repair “consumable” tooling and maintain the designated inventory of safety stock for all consumable tools. Request raw materials as required.
- Complete all tasks as assigned by the tool maker, including (but not limited to):
- material preparation (roughing and squaring),
- drilling and tapping of holes and other supporting tasks.
- Fixture repair and replacement.
- Be able to clearly communicate observed complex problems.
- A general understanding of control systems including sensors, operator controls, pneumatic valving, timers and relays, and power. Be able to logically work through a problem to identify a faulted component and demonstrate the suspected component is faulty. Replace it once identified.
- Use electrical diagnostic tools, as required (multi-meter, test boxes, computer, etc.)
- Ensure production cells are operable and efficient. Make recommendations to management for improvements and execute the approved changes.
- Support the primary technician as required.
- Demonstrate safe behaviors in all tasks. Lead by example.
- Clearly communicate verbally or via electronic media (text, Teams, Email). Make sure to keep the second shift personnel informed of changes within the cells.
- Use typical business computers and software, typically:
Email, Teams, Texting, and MS Office. AutoCAD experience a plus. - Support other departments as required.
- Assist with building, grounds and vehicle maintenance if requested by Manager.
- If a credit card is issued, abide by all the rules related to the company card and agree to submit receipts monthly or as otherwise requested.
- Any other tasks assigned.
1-3 years’ practical hands-on experience with machining/power tools and similar equipment. Specialized training certificate in machining, computers, automation, automotive or mechanics preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read engineering drawings and documentation is preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to apply basic arithmetic functions.
REASONING SKILLSAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out multiple step instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust have a valid driver's license. Any related certifications a plus, such as HVAC, electrician, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use of hands, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
