Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Blackmer Pump Technician evaluates, modifies, repairs, and rebuilds Blackmer pump products.

This position will involve approximately 80% Shop and 10% in field repair activity and 10% administration activity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct pump, unit open/inspections, and rebuild in accordance with Blackmer drawings and process.
  • Maintain tools, safety equipment, instruments, and materials for pump, motor, and equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including hand and power tools, to construct, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment; maintain and care for all equipment and tools, including cleaning and lubricating as required.
  • Perform Shipping and Receiving duties, including creating shipping labels for government furnished material (GFM), receiving parts, and conducting inventory audits.
  • Operate forklifts.
  • Construct plywood shipping boxes.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co‑workers, outside partners, and government inspectors.
  • Properly store, use, and dispose of waste/HAZMAT and scrap metal in accordance with local/state regulations and company policy.
  • Paint and prime product per customer and government specifications/contracts.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to the prescribed work schedule to perform job responsibilities.
  • Work overtime as required with advance approval from manager.
  • Observe safe work practices, safety methods, and Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Performs duties in a professional manner and teams well with others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, 2+ years’ experience in pump repair.
  • Military experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to be granted military base access.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Working knowledge of all tools and measuring devices required for pump repair.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write basic reports and business correspondence.
  • Effectively communicate by responding to questions from managers, engineers, and other customers.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic math principles.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and government contracts.
  • Proficient in all shop processes and procedures.

Physical Demands
  • Employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

Work Environment

The environment is primarily a controlled‑climate office and warehouse setting but will require time on the shop floor. The shop floor environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards, requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
