The Service Manager role is responsible for managing the Service Department and field staff, which includes performing scheduled service, repair, modifications, and total field support for dry fertilizer equipment while fostering strong customer relations and supporting the work of other departments within our manufacturing facility.

• Oversee daily activities of the department to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources; analyzes and assigns field service technicians dependent upon customer needs.
• The role of a Service Manager is to schedule and coordinate service calls to customers to ensure equipment is returned to good working conditions as soon as possible.
• Identify potential problems, troubleshooting issues (over the phone and possibly at site), and escalating issues to senior management when necessary.
• Identifies needs and provides direction regarding real and perceived challenges and/or obstacles.
• Prioritizes and coordinates service technicians across multiple locations.
• Collaborate with other departments to prepare quotes for service jobs and to identify root cause issues.
• Safety is a priority – ensure all safety policies and best practices are followed on and off the site.
• Be available as needed, including after hours.
• Travel as necessary to customer sites (less than 30% travel).
• Ensure proper training of all Service employees and develop individuals for future advancement.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Advanced education such as in mechanical/technical certificate or college degree is preferred
• A strong customer service background with mechanical knowledge of agricultural equipment, preferably with spreading, conveying and blending equipment.
• Strong ability to communicate well, both oral and written
• Work well under pressure and with deadlines.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, vendors, and customers
• Ability to professionally manage difficult customer situations

• Prior Supervisor or Management Experience.
• Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with Spreading, conveying and blending equipment.
• Experience in reporting and graphing.
• Working knowledge of fertilizer and equipment.

• Lifting and carrying - may need to lift and carry heavy equipment, tools, and materials, which can involve lifting up to 60 pounds
• Exposure to extreme conditions – when in the field, this role will work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain, which can be physically demanding
• Working in confined spaces – may at times need to work in tight spaces or confined areas, which can require climbing stairs, ladders, or scaffolding, often with the use of safety equipment
• Physical endurance – this job can involve long hours of standing, walking and bending, which requires good physical fitness and stamina
• Safety protocols – must adhere to strict safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure their safety and that of others
• May at times be exposed to noise, grease, oil and dirty working conditions.
• At times will operate and maintain portable power tools, hand tools, forklifts, cranes, hoists, jacks, and electronic test equipment.
• May occasionally operate electrode and oxygen acetylene cutting and welding apparatus
