The Director of Procurement leads the strategic direction and execution of global commodity strategies across direct and/or indirect categories. This role is responsible for optimizing global supply base performance, driving cost efficiencies, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. The Director will lead a team of commodity managers across regions and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver sustainable value and innovation.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement global commodity strategies that align with business goals and market dynamics.
- Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management for key commodities.
- Drive global sourcing initiatives to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor global market trends, supply chain risks, and geopolitical factors impacting commodity pricing and availability.
- Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, and regional procurement teams to ensure alignment and execution.
- Establish and track KPIs, cost models, and performance metrics across commodities.
- Integrate analytics, automation, and procurement technologies to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Champion sustainability, diversity, and compliance initiatives within the supply base.
- Lead and develop a high-performing global commodity management team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or global procurement.
- Proven leadership experience managing global teams and complex supplier networks.
- Deep understanding of commodity markets, cost drivers, and global sourcing strategies.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior leadership across global business units.
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or technology sectors.
- Experience with ERP and procurement platforms (e.g., Oracle).
- Expertise in managing both direct and indirect spend categories.
- Familiarity with ESG, supplier diversity, and digital procurement transformation.
- Spanish is desired.
- Travel, both domestic and international, will be required up to 20%
