Director of Systemwide Radiation Safety Program
Position at University of California, Riverside.
Position InformationSalary Range: $114,300 – $220,900 annually. Salary offers are based on education, licensure, certifications, experience and business needs. Applicants must have current work authorization; visas are not sponsored.
Role Overview: Serve as the UC system‑wide technical expert in development and implementation of Radiation Safety programs; represent EH&S in meetings and conferences with academic compliance committees, campus, system‑wide, local government, state and federal authorities; provide decision‑making based on laws, regulations, policies, best practices, science methodology and senior‑management approvals. Decisions may impact other EH&S programs, departments, segments of the organization, and organization‑wide.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement system‑wide Radiation Safety programs.
- Represent the university in external regulatory meetings.
- Provide strategic guidance and policy development.
- Act with delegated authority for external regulatory agencies.
- Lead critical projects with substantial organizational impact.
- Manage Radiation Safety Officer duties for UCR and Merced campuses.
- Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent experience and training.
- Advanced degree in related area.
- 8–13 years of related experience.
- Medical Radiation Safety Officer experience.
- Expert knowledge of EH&S fields and regulatory standards.
- Advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and project‑management skills.
- Experience mentoring EH&S staff and using relevant scientific equipment.
