The Project Manager at National Electric Works is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and completion of electrical construction projects. This role manages projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring compliance with contract documents, budgets, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Project Manager serves as the primary company representative for clients and subcontractors, providing leadership to project teams, building and maintaining strong relationships, and driving successful financial and operational outcomes.

The following list of duties and responsibilities serves as a guideline for the position and does not limit the tasks that may be assigned by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Project Oversight
  • Manage electrical construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide leadership to APMs and field teams, supporting coordination and issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in preconstruction activities, including permitting, procurement, and project startup.
  • Monitor job progress, assist in cost-to-complete estimates, and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and labor tracking.
  • Review and approve invoices, subcontractor billings, and progress payments.
  • Manage cost-to-complete forecasts and labor variance reporting in collaboration with Superintendents.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders, ensuring profitability and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Oversee contract administration and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and manage RFIs, submittals, and related documentation.
  • Build and maintain submittal logs and supporting documents, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of major equipment (lighting, switch gear, specialty systems) to meet project milestones.
Vendor, Client, and Subcontractor Relations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Negotiate and manage subcontracts, ensuring scope clarity, fair terms, and timely delivery.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable performance.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Assistant Project Managers.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents and Foremen to ensure proper planning, manpower allocation, and field execution.
  • Support team performance reviews, coaching, and professional development.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration.
EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in electrical construction management, with proven success managing projects independently.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, local codes, and electrical construction practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), Bluebeam, and project management software (Procore, MS Project, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary range: $110,000 – $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Standard office and jobsite environment. The individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally, may lift boxes or materials (typically 20 pounds or less).
