Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Payroll Director with strong knowledge of UKG Ready and Payroll to lead and mentor a team of three managers. This role requires a solution-oriented leader who can navigate complex payroll environments, drive operational excellence, and contribute to our unique Green Leaf culture.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 payroll/implementation managers
. - Oversee all payroll operations and ensure accurate, compliant processing across all 50 states.
- Provide strategic guidance on UKG Ready implementation and optimization.
- Act as a problem solver and solution provider, able to manage challenges and setbacks effectively.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to streamline payroll processes and address complex issues.
- Maintain and foster the Green Leaf culture: encourage open communication, teamwork, and constructive feedback.
- Support both internal and client-facing payroll initiatives (approx. 50/50 split).
- Contribute to employee growth, development, and retention initiatives within the payroll team.
- Extensive experience in payroll management
, preferably in multi-state or niche industry environments. - Strong expertise in UKG Ready
. - Proven leadership and mentoring experience; ability to manage and develop managers.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Alignment with Green Leaf culture: team player, solution-oriented, open to feedback, and collaborative across departments.
- Experience in the cannabis or other highly regulated industries.
- Willingness to participate in occasional extra hours or travel for team initiatives/retreats.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to improve systems and processes for long-term growth.
