POSITION SUMMARY
POSITION SUMMARY: The Area Sr Manager, Municipal Sales provides leadership, strategic guidance, support, and expertise to Area Presidents and General Managers, and directly supervises Managers, Municipal Sales in each Division on a daily basis in designing and implementing sales strategy for new and re‑bid municipal hauling and homeowner association sales opportunities to ensure growth, retention, and high quality revenue in the Area.

ACHINE assists in setting goals and targeted accounts for each Manager, monitors performance against those goals, and coaches Managers on an ongoing basis. They coordinate with the Government Affairs team to maintain relationships and ensure consistent policies, programs, and systems. Additionally, the Manager leads sales efforts for large‑scale municipal services privatization and outsourcing opportunities in conjunction with the Director, Public Private Partnerships, and implements sales strategies for new privatization or outsourced municipal infrastructure opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and implement Area municipal marketing and sales plans, including measuring current market share, identifying target markets, creating market‑share growth strategies, and assessing the external environment.
- Coach and develop the Division Municipal Services Manager, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Identify targeted privatization opportunities and convert prospects into customers, nurturing the top 10 accounts in the Area.
- Work closely with Area and Corporate leadership to set strategic objectives for the Area in relation to municipal and homeowner association markets, covering customer retention, prospecting, and price‑increase strategies.
- Assist in RFP and proposal development, preparing, packaging, and delivering proposals, and participate in contract negotiations for new and re‑bid sales.
- Lead Blue Sheet sessions to manage new sales opportunities and re‑bid targets.
- Maintain positive community relations through civic and trade organization involvement.
- Analyze sales trends, provide feedback to Area President and VP/ Asociación Municipal Sales, and review the sales activity funnel on an ongoing basis.
- Populate and maintain Salesforce, ensuring data accuracy and reporting for coaching purposes.
- Submit monthly Municipal Scorecard with win/loss/retention/extension activity.
- Communicate company objectives, goals, and legislative concerns to government officials.
- Create effective reporting systems and safeguard confidential information.
- Coordinate development of new solid waste infrastructure projects and manage them through development and conclusion.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Travel up to 80% of the time by air, car, or other transportation modes.
- Experience in waste, transportation, or service industry.
- Municipal and/or government sales and marketing or government relations experience. skilled in sales strategy, market research, customer prospecting, sales promotion, and customer retention.
- In depth knowledge of government legislative processes, procurement regulations, and bidding procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication across all organizational levels and with external customers and vendors.
- Aptitude for analyzing data and adding value to the company.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience training and mentoring new sales talent.
- Completion of municipal sales training programs.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of 7 years of long‑term cycle sales and/or sales management experience.
