The list below gives a general, though not comprehensive, description of the basic tasks a Custodian will normally be required to perform and will be evaluated upon. The Custodian will comply with all applicable school policies and guidelines, including those addressed in the Employee Handbook and the Safety Manual.

Basic tasks include:
** Standard Cleaning Practices
*** Follow any cleaning checklists provided by The Academy.
* Empty trash receptacles and haul to designated area.
* Vacuum all carpeted floors thoroughly.
* Clean designated bathrooms, including student bathrooms, staff bathrooms, and locker rooms in gym.
* Clean glass in Academy entrances
* Clean and polish all interior glass.
* Sweep and mop all hard surface flooring per schedule
* Vacuum Academy stairwells as needed.
* Wipe and disinfect counters in teacher breakrooms and gyms.
* Turn off classroom lights and secure building if last to leave.
* Routine tour of the Academy and leased/Shared Space areas to ensure trash is picked up, etc.
* Ensure cleanliness around dumpster area after every scheduled pick up.
** Occasional Cleaning Practices
*** Dust ledges and moldings.
* Dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces including desk tops, file cabinets, window sills, chairs, displays, tables and ledges, etc. Desk items will not be moved, unless specified to do so.
* Remove dirt/grime from light switch plates and door frames.
* Be available on event days and game days before/after.
** Additional Duties
*** Assist with minor plumbing issues as needed (e.g., clogged toilets)
* Occasional help with assembling or moving shelves or light furniture.
* Other cleaning duties as directed by the Facilities Director or Assistant Headmaster
* Report to Facilities Director for supplies and any issues within the buildings.
