JOB TITLE: Vending Repair Technician

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Nutrition Services

FLSA: Non-Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The Vending Machine Repair Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of vending machines located within the Fort Zumwalt School District. This role ensures that vending machines operate efficiently and effectively, providing students and staff with access to snacks and beverages as needed. This position will also assist the student nutrition department by delivering needed food and other items to district cafeterias in a safe and timely manner.

QUALIFICATION

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in maintenance, refrigeration systems, or similar equipment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. This person must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical manuals and instructions. This person must have a valid driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Perform routine maintenance on vending machines to ensure proper functionality.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with vending machines, including electrical, mechanical, and software-related problems.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components such as coin mechanisms, bill acceptors, motors, and refrigeration units.
  • Clean and sanitize vending machines regularly to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory usage.
  • Communicate with school staff and administrators regarding vending machine issues and maintenance schedules.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines when working with electrical components and machinery.
  • Coordinate with vending machine suppliers and vendors for parts, supplies, and technical support.
  • Provide training and support to school staff on basic vending machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Student Nutrition Delivery
  • Load, unload, and stock food, non-food, equipment, and supplies.
  • Organize food and non-food items to ensure food is delivered in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain documentation (receiving logs, vending receipts) to provide written support and/or convey information.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle (general vehicle maintenance) to ensure the safe operation and sanitation of the vehicle.
  • Assist kitchen managers in putting up products if needed.
  • Transport food and non-food items to various schools within the district and other off-campus locations in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Effectively communicate, in both verbal and written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student and staff-related information.
  • MENTAL DEMANDS

    Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems, maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this position an employee will be required to walk, stand, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods. This person will be required to have the manual dexterity to manipulate small components and tools for repairs. Occasionally lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 100 pounds.     TERMS

    OF EMPLOYMENT

    Employment will be on an at-will basis for 12 months with two weeks vacation, beginning July 1, or from the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated vacation and/or personal leave. Each maintenance employee will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate.

    Eight and one-half hours (including a 30-minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday. The Deputy Superintendent will establish a definite daily schedule. The yearly salary will be disbursed in twenty-four (24) equal payments.

    EVALUATION

    End-of-the-year performance evaluations will occur annually per the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of support staff personnel.
