Custodial Specialist (Special Crew) – Day Shift

Location: Facilities

Position: Year‑Round, 12 months, 8 hours (5:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)

Status: Non‑Exempt

Open Date: 12/11/2025 Closing Date: 12/18/2025

Starting Pay: $21.23 per hour (and up, depending on verifiable experience)

Perform a variety of heavy custodial functions that will maintain a clean, healthy and safe school environment. Duties include

• Setting up and breaking down tables/chairs for lunchrooms and district special events
• Moving furniture, file cabinets, stages and risers and other miscellaneous large equipment
• Assisting in snow removal, sanitizing restrooms
• Mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, stripping, buffing, and extracting floor surfaces
• Other custodial duties filling in for absent custodians

• Hands‑on knowledge of all custodial tasks including floor stripping, mixing chemicals, bonnet and extraction cleaning, hard floor care, etc.
• Ability to safely lift 50–75 pounds frequently, raise objects from lower to higher position or move horizontally
• Ability to safely push–pull up to 400 pounds (e.g., 50 stacked chairs) frequently
• Ability to safely move/load wrestling mats weighing up to 300 pounds per section as part of a team; move large, heavy tarps
• Ability to break down and move stages and risers
• Excellent balance and ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet
• Extensive walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling during normal shift
• Strong customer service orientation
• Excellent attendance record and demonstrated integrity
• Able to be on call for district emergencies and snow removal 24 h a day, 7 days a week
• Organizational skills and sound judgment to determine how a task can be most safely and efficiently accomplished
• Possess or obtain a valid Class E driver’s licence to operate District vehicle within 30 days
• Able to pass background checks, a physical, and a drug test
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Understand and communicate in English for basic job duties and safety response
