The Native American and Tribal Affairs Section advises and represents the Governor and the State on Native American and tribal issues, including tribal-state gaming compact negotiations, civil and criminal jurisdiction on tribal lands, cultural resource protection, government-to-government consultation, litigation, and other matters involving legal relationships between Native American organizations and the State, as well as advises the Attorney General on gambling law issues.
The Legal Assistant will provide routine support and assistance in investigative, litigation, and administrative matters; tribal compact negotiations;
Native American cultural matters; and case and file management. This includes compiling, organizing, and managing evidence; maintaining documents, communication, and information for tribal-state compact negotiations and compliance; and updating and maintaining files and databases related to the section's matters.
