Responsibilities- Responsible for execution of all advanced pricing and analysis requests. Leads in the development and management of assigned underwriting and analyst teams.
- Expert in all major areas of underwriting, including special pricing and marketing projects;
- Meets with Producers, clients, Underwriters, and Account Executives as needed to define and accomplish projects;
- Manages team of Underwriters and Analysts to determine workload distribution of department;
- Assists in determining strategic goals of team(s), including resource planning, education/training needs, policy development and business growth;
- Identifies, coordinates and manages all relevant external business partner relationships, including carriers, external consultants and third party administrators and vendors;
- Expert in understanding actuarial plan values and how they are used in pricing and analysis projects; proficient in software used for plan analysis and pricing;
- Understands underwriting models and reporting templates, with ability to modify and customize for customer needs;
- Leads and manages all assigned client underwriting projects, including presenting analysis to clients.
- Assists Producers in prospecting activities, including written RFP responses, finalist presentations and follow-up activities;
- Maintains data tracking and reporting for financial management, underwriting models, client reports and other analytical deliverables;
- Competent in multiple carrier data and reporting systems to obtain claim data for reporting and analysis;
- Analyzes and challenges insurance company renewal calculations for fully-insured contracts;
- Engages in educational opportunities to further underwriting knowledge, market trends and regulatory environment;
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all work; manages timelines and deadlines;
- Addresses incoming correspondence and responds in a timely manner;
- Leads in training development and execution on underwriting and analysis topics;
- Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five (5) or more years related work experience
- One (1) or more year of management experience leading a team of at least 3 individuals
- Valid Insurance License
- Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills
- Good customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills
- Excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work within a team and foster teamwork
- Ability to manage mid-level and large projects and lead teams to achieve goals
- Ability to work productively as an individual
- Ability to prioritize work for multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced MS Excel skills required
