We are looking for a proactive Underwriting Consultant to manage a portfolio of individual risks and leverage strong underwriting acumen. You will cultivate key partner relationships and work within specific limits of authority in a hybrid environment from Seattle or other West Coast offices.
Job Description- Perform a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: product knowledge and risk assessment for buildings, contractors equipment, transportation, and logistics coverages; determine acceptability, pricing, and competitive analysis.
- Communicate efficiently with internal teams and distribution partners, prepare quotes, handle rate appeals or declinations.
- Manage portfolio results, engage with other business units, and contribute to top & bottom line.
- Market products through in‑person and virtual visits, negotiate on behalf of CNA, and develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Utilize CNA systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced underwriting knowledge with technical expertise in inland marine products.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Collaboration and leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; professional designations preferred.
- Ideally 7-10+ years of inland marine underwriting experience.
In certain jurisdictions, CNA must provide a reasonable estimate of compensation. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $72,000 to $141,000 annually.
