Job Summary

The IT Intern supports daily IT operations by assisting with technical support, troubleshooting, system maintenance, and departmental projects. This position offers hands‑on learning opportunities and exposure to a wide range of technologies in a professional environment.

• Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and basic network/connectivity issues.
• Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
• Help troubleshoot workstation, application, and network‑related problems; escalate issues as appropriate.
• Support user account administration (password resets, access requests/permissions, account setup, etc.).
• Assist with software installations, updates, patching, and system upgrades.
• Document support activities in the ticketing system and maintain clear, accurate technical notes/procedures.
• Participate in IT projects and research/evaluate new technologies as directed.
• Maintain and update inventory/asset records for IT equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor; able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and a willingness to follow security policies and procedures.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills with attention to detail.
• Experience troubleshooting common IT issues (hardware, software, printers, basic network/connectivity).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.

• Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, CIS, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field and/or pursuing relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+).

Physical Demands:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods. This is mostly a sedentary office classification, although standing in outdoor work areas and walking between terminals, maintenance shops and CMV operating areas for short periods can be necessary.

Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment, a CMV Terminal environment, and outdoors, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office/CMV equipment. Exposure to various climate conditions, fumes, dust, odors, oil/grease, and gasses.
