Position Summary

The Technology Support Specialist provides advanced technical support to faculty, staff, and students. The role ensures effective, secure use of campus technology, manages multiple priorities, and delivers customized customer service. It designs, maintains, documents, and recommends technology upgrades, collaborates with ITS colleagues and campus partners, and promotes a customer‑centered service approach with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities – Technical Support and Troubleshooting
  • Provide technical support through in‑person, phone, email, virtual, and ticketing systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, networking, and security issues for computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other equipment.
  • Support classroom, lab, and AV technology (projectors, cameras, microphones, document cameras, HyFlex systems).
  • Perform and coordinate repairs and replacements of computing and AV equipment.
  • Escalate complex issues to advanced support teams when appropriate.
Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
  • Complete software installations, updates, updates, patch management, and backups.
  • Support computer deployments using standard configuration processes and tools.
  • Perform system, application, and database maintenance to ensure stability and performance.
  • Assist with technology asset inventory data entry.
Technology Planning, Consultation, and Development
  • Evaluate and advise on technology needs for classrooms, labs, and campus spaces.
  • Provide technical guidance on procurement, setup, and deployment of standard equipment.
  • Recommend changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Documentation, Training, and Communication
  • Create and maintain user documentation, FAQs, and training materials.
  • Develop and deliver technology training sessions.
  • Collaborate with ITS staff to maintain documentation for ITS services and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities via ticketing system.
  • Communicate courteously and effectively with ITS colleagues and campus users.
Projects, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement
  • Provide constructive input to improve IT services and participate in team planning sessions.
  • Participate in small or specialized technology support projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging technology trends through ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with ITS staff and campus users with excellent communication and responsiveness.
