Location: California
We are seeking a Cloudera Operations Engineer (Day 2 Support) to manage, optimize, and support enterprise Cloudera environments in production.
This role focuses on post‑implementation operational support, performance optimization, incident management, and continuous improvement of Cloudera‑based big data platforms.
Responsibilities- Provide Day 2 operational support for Cloudera CDH/CDP clusters in production environments
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and capacity planning
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform‑related incidents, problems, and service requests
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures
- Manage upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities
- Optimize Hadoop/Spark workloads and improve cluster performance
- Ensure security, governance, and compliance standards are maintained
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Collaborate with Dev Ops, infrastructure, and application teams
- Maintain operational documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Strong experience with Cloudera CDH/CDP administration
- Hands‑on expertise in:
- HDFS
- YARN
- Hive
- Impala
- Spark
- Kafka
- HBase
- Experience with cluster monitoring tools (Cloudera Manager, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.)
- Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS)
- Shell scripting (Bash) and basic Python scripting
- Experience with Kerberos security configuration
- Good understanding of networking and storage concepts
- Incident and problem management experience (ITIL framework preferred)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Experience in hybrid cloud deployments
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Automation using Ansible or Terraform
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Cloudera certification is a plus
