Overview

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

Saronic is seeking a skilled and proactive IT Service Desk Specialist with a strong background in both traditional IT support and manufacturing technology environments. This role provides critical day-to-day technical support for a mix of office, lab, and production floor systems, ensuring uptime and reliability across our distributed and fast-paced operations. The ideal candidate combines technical depth, excellent problem-solving skills, and hands-on familiarity with supporting users and systems in both corporate and manufacturing settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide IT support for hardware, software, and network issues—including desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and mobile devices—across corporate and manufacturing environments.
  • Support production and engineering systems, including equipment used in assembly, testing, and manufacturing operations (e.g., connected devices, industrial PCs, IoT sensors, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues in a timely manner while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and communication.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of network configurations—routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs—within both office and production areas.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, software updates, backups, and security patches to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, Office 365, Intune, and cloud-based services (Azure, AWS, Google Workspace).
  • Manage provisioning and deprovisioning of users, accounts, and hardware (onboarding/offboarding).
  • Support collaboration and connectivity between R&D, engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless technology operation across environments.
  • Assist in the implementation of automation initiatives, imaging, and deployment tools to improve IT efficiency and consistency.
  • Enforce and promote IT security best practices, including access control, data protection, and compliance with DoD-related cybersecurity policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the ticketing system (e.g., Jira, Service Now, or equivalent).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Production teams to support equipment setup, system integrations, and ongoing reliability.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 3+ years of IT support experience, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or hardware engineering environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and network components.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing IT systems, including connected devices, production networks, and IT/OT segmentation principles.
  • Experience administering Active Directory, Office 365, Intune, and cloud-based collaboration tools.
  • Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
  • Experience using helpdesk/ticketing systems and asset management platforms.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to translate technical details into accessible explanations.
  • IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications) are highly desirable.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional standing and walking within the office.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports.
  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages).
Benefits
  • Medical Insurance:
Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services. Saronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents.
