Incumbents are responsible for providing user and application support, performing needs assessment, and implementing new technologies of moderate difficulty and complexity. Incumbents work under moderate supervision while exercising independent judgement within established systems and procedures.

Incumbents work under general supervision while exercising independent judgement within established systems and procedures.

Individuals within the Application Specialist series can expect to perform routine to complex technical duties related to managing, supporting and troubleshooting District software systems at the enterprise level. Individuals implement, support, and manage multiple computer applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, Procurement, Customer Information, Utility Billing, Content Management, Database Management, System Integration, and others.

Incumbents within the Application Specialist series report to the Director of Information Services. Application Specialist II/III incumbents may receive general direction from an Application Specialist IV.

Western Water employees are expected to work overtime, weekends, evenings and holidays as required to accommodate the agency's needs, in addition to responding as a Disaster Emergency Service Worker.

• Support one or more enterprise level applications such as ERP, EAM, CWMS/CMMS, and CIS.
• Develop and support complex application configurations, workflows, and automations to ensure optimal application performance and usability.
• Manage and support preattentional database systems such as Microsoft SQL, including developing queries, reports, data visualizations, and dashboards.
• Provide project and technical support during new technology implementations, contributing to innovative solutions.
• Evaluate documentation, work scopes, and agreements to ensure alignment with Western Water's strategic goals and requirements.
• Conduct technical tasks to maintain enterprise systems which include: data management, report development, and system integrations.
• Support the development of business processes and standard operating procedures.
• Adhere to office procedures including record management policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Western Water's record retention policy.
• The incumbent, while exercising his/her authority, shall abide by and promote Western Water’s values and beliefs and adhere to the Western Water’s ethics policy.
• Develop professional documentation related to the duties described.
